An interesting fact is that the largest mammals on planet Earth are not land animals, but seas. The record holder among mammals is the blue whale, whose size is amazing.

Only the weight of 2,400 people can beat the average weight of a whale (150 tons). But despite such a large size, these mammals are not predators, they feed on plankton. Previously, blue whales inhabited all the oceans of the Earth, only in Antarctica there were up to 250,000. But now there are no more than 11,000 individuals of them, although they live longer than humans, up to 120 years.
In the summer, these mammals prefer to live in the north, in the polar waters, but in the winter they go on a "journey" to the south. Their speed is very high, for example, one whale can swim more than 3000 km in a month and a half. During this period, animals sometimes do not eat at all, but spend the accumulated.
Although blue whales are loners, they have a peculiar way of communicating through "singing." This sound goes up to 188 dB and can be compared to the loudness of a jet plane engine. Cries are heard by other individuals of this species, even if they are separated by more than 1600 km. Moreover, these animals can "take" such frequencies that humans are unable to hear.
Biologists to this day are interested in the blue whale, trying to solve the riddle of their singing and save these animals, because they are on the verge of extinction.
