Cats, like humans, can be in a bad mood and even get annoyed. Most often, fear of the environment leads to the manifestation of anger. To pacify a cat in such a situation, you need to behave in a certain way.
Determine the reason
One of the most common causes of fear and subsequent anger in cats is the appearance of strangers. Cats simply do not know what to expect from them if they do not notice a benevolent attitude towards themselves. Once frightened of one person, later cats can be afraid and show aggression towards other outwardly similar people. Another fairly common cause of cat aggression is illness. Any discomfort experienced by an animal (toothache, an abscess on the skin, small wounds, etc.) can lead to aggressive behavior towards surrounding animals and people. Before trying to tame your cat, determine if he is really angry or just showing fear. The line between these states in cats is thin, they can pass into each other within a few seconds. A vivid manifestation of aggressive behavior is the back arched up.
Take your time and be careful
An attack by a pissed-off cat can lead to quite serious injuries in the form of deep scratches and bites. Give him time and space to calm down, do not try to care for him, stroke him or hug him. Remove the source of irritation, it could be another cat, a stranger, or something else. As soon as the external manifestations of anger disappear, slowly walk up and reach out to him. If the cat begins to hiss or arch its back, it means that he still has not calmed down and needs more time. Be calm and do not make sudden movements, this can scare the cat. Remain relatively quiet for several hours.
Distract the cat
A good way to distract an angry cat from sources of irritation is to feed him. Give him his favorite food, in most cases this is enough for the cat to completely calm down. If you have several cats living in your house that are constantly at war with each other, you may need to isolate them from each other. If the source of the cat's fear is a specific person who comes to visit you, lock the cat in a separate room during his visit. In any case, do not try to scold the cat or apply physical pressure to it, the result will almost always be zero.
