Step 1
The basis for the future do-it-yourself dog whistle will be a small willow twig. Cut a branch about 25 cm long. Pick a branch slightly thicker than your thumb.
Step 2
Cut one end of the future dog whistle at a 45-degree angle. Cut off the sharp part of the resulting corner, because you will put this end in your mouth for a whistle.
Step 3
To make the whistle perfect at home, make a small hole on top of the whistle with a sharp knife. Then cut the other side of the hole at a slight angle. The hole should be small, if desired, it can be enlarged. A small hole is needed to make the whistle sound louder.
Step 4
Remove the bark from the willow twig. To do this, step back from the edge where you will blow about 10 cm and cut the bark in a straight line. Then trim it to the diameter of the twig. After making a notch, start hitting the bark of the branch with the blunt side of your knife. The bark should weaken from the blows, after which it can be quite easily removed. Make sure that the bark is not seriously damaged, torn or cracked. Do not throw it away, it will still be useful to you.
Step 5
Cut a groove on the part of the future DIY whistle without bark. Make the groove deeper - your whistle will be deeper too. Just do not overdo it, because it will not be possible to return it to its previous size. Make a small notch in the bark above the groove.
Step 6
Soak the bark-free part of the DIY whistle with water. Gently take the bark you removed from this willow branch in your hand and put it back on as it was originally there. The whistle for the four-legged pet is ready. Enjoy companionship with your beloved dog!
