If you want to have a kitty, you need to take care not only of her nutrition, handling and care, but also her puberty. Even if you do not think about the birth of kittens, it is still worth knowing the features of the processes that occur in the cat's body. In this case, the cat's behavior will not cause bewilderment.

Sexual maturity is the ability of animals to produce offspring. Puberty can occur at different times. The timing of puberty depends on the care, feeding, climate and maintenance of the animal. Usually, maturity occurs much earlier than development and growth are completed, that is, before physiological maturation ends. Usually, puberty occurs in six months, while physiological maturity occurs in more than two years.

The sexual cycle repeats regularly and consists of four stages. This is the pre-flow stage, the stage of pronounced sexual activity (estrus), the post-flow stage and the stage of complete rest.

  1. In the proestrus stage, or in the precursor stage, a hormone begins to be produced, which actively causes the maturation and growth of follicles in the ovary. Inside the follicles, estrogen is formed, a hormone that prepares the genital tract for mating. In the proestrus stage, the cat begins to behave restlessly - it starts rubbing against objects, sticks to animals and people. Loss of appetite is possible. Also, the cat can scream. During this period, the cat is not allowed to mate.
  2. The stage of estrus or marked sexual activity is characterized by estrus. During this period, the cat seeks to find a mating partner. Sometimes this stage lasts a week, sometimes longer. Mucus is secreted and a specific smell appears, which the males feel. The behavior of the cat also changes. She begins to lift her butt, roll on the floor, move her tail to the side and scream pitifully. Here comes the complete readiness of the cat for mating, and also the full release of mature eggs from the ovaries, that is, ovulation, is carried out. Cats do not spontaneously ovulate, unlike dogs. Ovulation can only occur with a very large number of copulations. Ovulation can last up to thirty hours. The heat can last up to 7 days at intervals of 8 to 14 days. The techka usually takes place in September and June.

  3. The post-life stage, it is interestrus or metestrus. With the arrival of this stage, the uterine glands continue to function and secrete a secret. Then their activity decreases and the secret ceases to stand out. If ovulation occurs during mating, the cat will not let the cat in for several days. If there was no ovulation, then the occurrence of a false pregnancy is quite possible.
  4. Resting stage, or anestrus or diestrus. Here, in the uterus, there is a complete disappearance of functional and structural changes. The duration of this stage is about three months.
