Chihuahua is an energetic and graceful dog, a small, cheerful and courageous friend. This dwarf breed dog is quite hardy, can adapt to almost any climate, easily adapt to the lifestyle of the owners. To make your little pet enjoy life and feel comfortable, you need to take proper care of him.
Instructions
Step 1
The first step is to familiarize yourself with how to properly hold the dog in your arms. You need to take a Chihuahua with both hands, hold the seat with your right hand, and under the breast with your right hand. Do not take the dog by the belly, paws, scruff or ribs. Proper care of your pet involves regular walks with it on the street, while the dog should be able to run and exercise properly in freedom (away from crowds and roads). Large dogs can be dangerous to your pet, so it is best to walk the Chihuahua on a harness or leash (two to four times a day).
Step 2
Do not allow your dog to eat anything from the ground, as it can poison itself, choke, or get an infection. If your pet is a smooth-haired breed, then you should walk it in the cold season in a special warm suit. Make sure Chihuahuas don't get sunstroke during summer walks, as they love to soak up the sun. Do not leave it in direct sunlight or in a closed car.
Step 3
Hair care depends entirely on the length of the hairline. It is necessary to wash the dog on average three to four times a year (as well as when the coat is heavily soiled and when absolutely necessary) and only with a special shampoo. When bathing, make sure that water does not run into your ears. Please note that Chihuahuas should not be bathed for a week after any vaccinations. Bathing too often makes the coat dry and brittle.
Step 4
Indulge your pet with biotin-rich vitamins during molting. Caring for nails comes down to a neat and timely trim. Try not to cut the claws too short to avoid damaging the blood vessels. If the nails are not trimmed in time, the Chihuahua will not be able to put its paws correctly. Remember to take care of your pet's teeth. At the age of seven months, the change of teeth begins, at this time you need to give your pet more calcium. If your teeth do not fall out on time, contact your veterinarian immediately for help.
Step 5
Deworm your dog with a special drug once every three months. Get vaccinated on time. Feed the Chihuahua at the same time every day, supply fresh and clean drinking water. Do not allow guests to feed the dog food from the table, do not overfeed your pet. Regularly clean the coat with a special brush, wipe your pet's eyes with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or tea, check the ears.
