For a long time in Russia, our ancestors loved quail meat and prepared wonderful dishes from it. Quail was caught during the hunt, but today the breeding of quails is quite a profitable business. Five females give eggs by weight exactly the same as one chicken gives. It is worth considering that quails grow three times faster than chicken, and much less feed is consumed. Keeping quails is quite simple, you just need to take into account some rules.

It is necessary

  • - Quails,
  • - incubator,
  • - feed,
  • - cells,
  • - premises.

Instructions

Step 1

For keeping and breeding quails, you need a room in which the temperature should be maintained throughout the year of the order of 17-22 degrees and a relative humidity of 60-70%. If the number of birds is up to 20 pieces, the place of their keeping can be any corner of a private house or apartment where you can place a cage measuring 40x60 centimeters. If the number of quails is from 500 to 1000, you will need a room of 15 square meters, where you will need to install up to 10 cell batteries. In addition, premises will be needed for storing feed, placing an incubator and keeping young stock.

Step 2

In order to get consistently quail eggs, you need to choose a quail breed with increased egg production. For these purposes, the blue marble breed, tuxedo egg, Manchu golden and white English are suitable. If the main goal is to obtain quail meat, then you need to choose meat breeds, for example, Pharaoh.

Step 3

The cages that will contain quails can be made by hand. This will require plywood, galvanized mesh, galvanized sheet metal and fittings. It is worth considering that about 100 quails are placed in one battery. The floor of the cage should be lined with hay or sawdust bedding.

Step 4

Breeding and keeping quails requires daily care. This includes cleaning droppings, feeding, collecting eggs and examining quails. It is important to maintain optimal temperature and humidity, prepare feed and position the birds as the young grow. And, of course, if the poultry is raised for meat, you need to slaughter and butcher the quails, all this takes a lot of time.

Step 5

Since quails are practically not adapted to incubating eggs, you will need an incubator. If you do not have the opportunity to purchase such an apparatus, you can purchase young quails from producers. In this case, caring for the quails will be much easier.

Step 6

Quails, like chickens, love to swim in dry sand. This must be taken into account when maintaining them, periodically put a small bath with dry sand, the thickness of which should be 5-7 centimeters.

Step 7

You need to feed the quail twice a day with egg feed, crushed grain or herbs. Don't forget to install a drinker.
