All cat owners can be figuratively divided into two camps. Some people prefer to feed their pets with ready-made cat food purchased at a pet store. Others are sure that cats can only be fed "normal human food" - cereals, meat, fish. However, there are situations when even the most ardent opponents of ready-made cat food have to deviate from their principles. For example, during a long trip you simply cannot do without ready-made cat food. Choosing a treat for your furry friend should be taken very seriously.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, decide whether you will feed your pet with dry or canned food. The first is much cheaper than the second. It is very easy to use and has a fairly long shelf life. Therefore, when leaving for work or leaving for the weekend, you can leave your pet a whole bowl of dry treats without worrying that it will go bad. In addition, dry food helps to clean the teeth of cats from plaque and calculus. When using exclusively dry food for feeding your pet, make sure that there is always a bowl of clean drinking water next to the plate.
Step 2
Distinguishing high quality dry food from low quality dry food is fairly easy. Cheap food always has a pleasant appearance, very often they have the form of interesting figures, painted in different colors.
Step 3
High quality dry food contains only natural ingredients. The absence of dyes in the delicacy is evidenced by its monochromatic color and a very inconspicuous appearance. Pieces of quality cat food are always greasy to the touch.
Step 4
Canned cat food, unlike dry food, is suitable for feeding kittens, elderly animals and cats with oral diseases. It has a richer flavor and is more eaten by cats. The main disadvantage of canned cat food is its short shelf life after opening the can.
Step 5
When choosing a ready-made food for your pet, carefully read the information indicated on the product label, and especially with the composition of the treat. Remember that the presence of bright labels like "now 2 times more meat" or "recommended by the veterinarian's union" does not mean that the food is actually good. On the packaging of high-quality cat food, the name of the product, its net weight, a list of components in the order of their weight in the treat, the content of crude protein, fat, fiber and water in the feed, as well as the name and address of the manufacturer of the product must be indicated.
Step 6
Good cat food must include protein sources such as beef, pork, lamb, turkey, chicken, tuna, or salmon. Moreover, the type of product should be indicated on the package, and not its general name such as "meat", "fish" or "poultry". Make sure your feed contains healthy by-products such as heart, liver, and grains and vegetables such as potatoes and carrots. High-quality cat food always contains minerals and vitamins A, B, C, D, E.
