In this case, a special dry cat food is the ideal solution in the matter of feeding a fluffy pet, the choice of which should be approached very responsibly.
Classes of dry cat food
Absolutely all dry food for cats can be conditionally divided into three groups: 1. Expensive dry food "premium" is the best specialized option for feeding cats. They include all the substances necessary for the proper development of animals, including vitamins, are highly digestible and contain animal protein without dyes, flavorings and soy. Funds in the production of such feeds go exclusively to the purchase of high-quality ingredients, and not to their advertising promotion. 2. Commercial dry food for cats, although they are complete, but they cannot be called specialized. They are distinguished by their attractive appearance and packaging. They have the same set of vitamins and minerals, but differ only in flavoring additives that affect the taste, but not the quality of the feed. Animal proteins in such products are replaced by vegetable ones. The high cost of commercial dry cat food comes from high advertising costs. 3. Dry food for cats "economy class" does not contain the set of nutrients necessary for the proper development of animals, are poorly digestible and are made from the most inexpensive components. Animal protein in them is replaced by herbal supplements and soy. These dry cat foods are just a supplement to the animal's staple diet.
What good dry cat food should be
Before choosing a particular food for your pet, be sure to read the information presented on its label. Good dry cat food consists of: • meat, and it is from it, and not from animal by-products. One of the types of meat should also be indicated on the label, the most common of which is chicken meat today. Keep in mind that beef is only used in premium feed; • cereals and vegetables, the content of which in the feed should not exceed 50%, and it is better if it is only 25-30%; • a long list of various vitamins and minerals; • natural preservatives, such as vitamins E and C, which are responsible for the preservation of fats in dry food.
What should not be in dry cat food
Good dry food does not contain: • low-quality sources of protein, for example, such a dubious offal as ground beef skin; • antioxidants and chemical preservatives, eg BHA, BHT, Propylgallate, Ethoxyquin; • sugar and caramel; • dyes; • Empty litter, such as cellulose and nut shells, to make cats feel full without actually delivering nutrients to the body.
