There is no definite answer to the question of what food is ideal for dogs. Some dog breeders, in principle, feed their pets only natural food (soups, cereals, etc.), while others are not sure that they can properly balance the diet, and prefer to buy ready-made in stores. Considering the many colorful packaging, it is not easy to make the right choice.
Instructions
Step 1
Dog breeders usually have no problems with canned food. Animals almost never refuse juicy chunks in jelly or sauce. But such food is quite expensive, and for a daily diet, many people prefer dry food, which can be divided into 4 classes: economy, medium, premium, holistic.
Step 2
Economy class foods are cheap, and their names are well known even to those who have never had a dog: "Meals", Darling, Pedigree, "Our Mark", Chappi and others. They are sold not only in pet stores, but also in supermarkets and in stores within walking distance. Economy-class feeds have a low nutritional value, and therefore their consumption is much higher than other feeds. The main ingredients for this type of feed are cereals (wheat, corn) and vegetable proteins (soy). Economy food does not meet the dog's protein, fat, carbohydrate and vitamin requirements, although advertisements claim otherwise. Constant feeding with economy class crackers can lead to metabolic disorders, allergic reactions, and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Step 3
Feed class "medium" is a little more expensive than "economy", but not much different from them. It is enough for a manufacturer to add 3-5 percent by-products to claim that the feed contains animal proteins. Medium foods are not balanced and not optimal for the daily diet.
Step 4
Premium food is the best option for your pet. Sometimes the packaging is labeled "super-premium", but this is only a marketing ploy. You will hardly find any differences in the composition of “premium” and “super-premium”. Such feeds are 2-3 times more expensive than economy-class feeds, but they are also required less, since they have a high energy value. Make good dog crackers from meat products, adding vitamins and minerals. The dog's body perfectly assimilates premium food. Good premium and super-premium feeds include: Dr. Alders, 1st CHOICE, Purina Dog Chow, Eukanuba, Purina Pro Plan, Hill's.
Step 5
Another class of dog food is holistic. These foods cannot be purchased at the pet store. As a rule, they need to be ordered on the websites of manufacturing companies or in specialized online stores. Holistic food does not contain offal, cereals (excluding certain lines with rice as an additional source of carbohydrates) or soy. They contain a high percentage of meat, polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins, macro- and microelements. The ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates in them is always optimal. Such foods are often used in kennels for breeding dogs or when feeding an animal in preparation for a show.
