The preparatory stage of childbirth in dogs of the pug breed proceeds in different ways: in some it passes without any changes in behavior, while others behave restlessly. It is advisable to preliminarily agree with the veterinarian for assistance in childbirth. Most pugs have no problems giving birth, but in difficult cases, the veterinarian will always help. Either simply with your hands, or with the help of medication, or by applying a caesarean section.

It is necessary to prepare a place for childbirth in advance, it is more convenient on a hill. It could be a chair. It is also necessary to prepare an incubator for puppies - a box with a mattress and a blanket.

If the room is cool, you need to use a heating pad. For future puppies, colorful ribbons are prepared so as not to forget who was born in what sequence.

The approach of childbirth in a pug can be determined by a lowered abdomen, frequent urination and a decrease in temperature by one degree compared to normal. In addition, some pugs may refuse to eat.

Since the contractions can be painful, the dog's breathing quickens, it may tremble or whine. The period from labor to labor itself can take 12 to 24 hours. All this time it is necessary to be close to the pet.

The most favorable position for the birth of a puppy is head first. However, there are times when puppies are born with their hind legs forward, but this does not mean that the presentation of the fetus was incorrect.

First, the amniotic sac is shown, which the dog sometimes ruptures with its tongue. Then the fetus appears, completely or partially covered by the bladder membrane. The newborn puppy is connected to the afterbirth by the umbilical cord, which the mother gnaws through.

If the dog does not gnaw through the umbilical cord, he needs help, especially when the bladder covers the puppy's face. In this case, it is necessary to remove the membrane from the puppy's nostrils and turn the umbilical cord with your fingers, while there is no need to use scissors. The break must be made four centimeters from the navel and immediately return the puppy to the mother.

In the intervals between the birth of puppies, the animal rests from several minutes to several hours. With each new puppy, these intervals, as a rule, are reduced, but there is no pattern here.
