Step 1
Any violation of the integrity of the skin and internal vessels is called a wound. Wounds, depending on the nature of the damage, are divided into deep and shallow. Deep wounds are usually a significant hazard as the dog can lose a lot of blood. If the wound is deep, and the bleeding is arterial, then the blood from the wound site gushes with a fountain. With venous bleeding, the blood comes out in a stream. In the area of injury, inflammation appears, a local increase in temperature occurs. The dog limps and licks the wound, and the wound is treated and bandaged. The wounded area should be cleaned of dirt, pus and rinsed with clean water. Then it needs to be treated with hydrogen peroxide, tincture of iodine or potassium permanganate. An open deep wound should be immediately bandaged tightly to avoid blood loss. When the wound heals, the dog needs to wear a muzzle so that it does not lick the wound.
Step 2
Contusions of the limbs are also a very common occurrence in dogs when falling from a roof or getting into a traffic accident. When falling from a high-rise building, all four legs of the animal are usually affected. In this case, the dog may experience shock from severe pain. Therefore, if the limbs are bruised, the dog should be immediately transferred to a quiet place, and then checked how serious the injury is. Any bruises are accompanied by bruises, hematomas. Mild forms can be treated at home by applying ice to the sore spot and lubricating it with Arnica or another similar healing ointment. Bruises are also treated with tincture of iodine, applying an "iodine grid". Any more serious bruises should be treated by a veterinarian, who should be contacted immediately.

Sprains and dislocations of the limbs are not dangerous injuries, but, nevertheless, unpleasant. Dislocations are divided into four types: dislocations of the hip joint, dislocation of the patella, dislocation of the shoulder joint, dislocation of the elbow joint. In the first type of dislocation, the ligaments and capsules of the joint are torn. The femur moves up and down and does not support the joint. Treatment of dislocation of the hip joint consists in the reduction of the joint. Before the procedure, anesthesia is done with sombrevin or calypsol in a volume of 2-4 per kilogram of body weight. After the joint is repositioned, the dog is given a chance to sleep. Patella dislocation is determined by the position of the dog's paw. Usually the dog is limping and keeps the paw slightly raised. If the patella is dislocated, anesthesia is done with a ramp, and then the joint is gently adjusted with both hands. Dislocations of the shoulder and elbow joints are also treated under anesthesia by reducing the joints.
Step 4
Ligament sprains occur with unsuccessful movements of the dog, sudden jumps, weakness of the ligaments and tendons. They manifest themselves in pain, an increase in local temperature. If the dog is stretched, the first step is to rest him and apply ice to the injured area. In the future, warm bandages and compresses are applied to the sore paw, and pain relievers are given.

A dog bone fracture is considered the most severe injury listed. Fractures are classified as closed or open. A closed fracture usually resolves without displacement of the bone, and the consequences of such a fracture are less severe. An open fracture is accompanied by bleeding, so a dog with such an injury needs to bandage its paw as soon as possible. Fractures are caused by impacts, falls from high-rise buildings, gunshot wounds and road accidents. In addition, dogs that do not consume enough calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D are more likely to fracture as the bones become fragile. Fractures are always treated in a veterinarian. In addition, more vitamin D and calcium should be added to the diet. Vitamin D is found in fatty fish, and calcium is found in bone meal and meat. It is also recommended that you give your dog ready-made calcium supplements.
Step 6
Prevention of any injury, from minor wounds to fractures, is to be attentive to your pet. You should not let the dog go far away from you, you need to protect your pet from falls and gunshot wounds. Do not allow the animal to approach suspicious people and other animals that may harm its health.
