The eyes should not be cloudy. The dog shouldn't be afraid of you. Examine the ears of the animal, they should also be clean, with no signs of redness.

The tongue and gums should be pink, moist, and free of white coating. The teeth are white, and there should be no unpleasant odor from the mouth. A healthy puppy's nose is wet and cold.

The pug's head is large, massive, without pronounced bones of the skull, it has deep wrinkles.

Move your hand against the growth of the coat and look at the condition of the skin underneath. You shouldn't find sores, fleas, dandruff. The last sign of infection of the animal with parasites, poor care and feeding, as well as rickets. Turn the animal over, look at its belly. The hair does not grow there, so you can easily examine the skin. It should be free of rashes, redness and acne.

Place the pug on the floor. A healthy pet walks with all four legs and does not lame. The tail is usually curled tightly, sometimes twice. The dog has a waddling gait. The paws are not turned neither inward nor outward, but are always directed straight.
