According to the standard, a Chihuahua should have wide, erect ears by 3-5 months. However, in some Chihuahuas, they remain either half-hanging, which is considered a big drawback, or completely hanging. These problems are associated with soft ear cartilage, which can be inherited. Such problems arise due to improper feeding of the mother of the puppy during pregnancy or the maintenance of the puppies that are born.
Instructions
Step 1
Feed your dog foods that contain calcium: cottage cheese, milk, meat, etc. Add gelatin (a pinch of gelatin on the tip of a knife) to your puppy's food once a day.
Step 2
Walk your dog as often as possible and in the sun. The sun's rays are very beneficial for bone growth.
Step 3
Ear massage is useful for the puppy. It improves blood circulation. Iron your ears from base to tip, pointing upwards six times a day. Do not pull, but iron! This massage is especially useful in places where there are breaks.
Step 4
A procedure to help make the ears stand up is to apply a patch over the ears. Use only a medical plaster! Scotch tape or tape will not work because the ear will sag underneath and allergic reactions may occur. The width of the patch is 3 cm. The ear splint should be smaller than the ear itself, it is made from a ballpoint pen rod. Measure the length and width of your dog's ear. Make two plaster petals that match your measurements. In this case, the petals in length should be slightly less than the dog's ear, but correspond to its shape. Glue the tire in the center of the petals, one of the sides of the petal should remain sticky. Use it to glue the entire structure to the dog's ear. Before gluing, disinfect the auricle with cologne, alcohol.
