A healthy dog has a beautiful, thick, smooth and shiny coat. But the owners often complain that the pet's color has lost its shine, baldness is observed in some places, and the hairs have become dull. The reasons for the deterioration of the condition of the coat can be different: improper diet, poor care, unfavorable environmental conditions, and others. The appearance of breeds such as poodle, schnauzer, sky terrier or chow-chow becomes especially unaesthetic, so you need to take timely measures.

Instructions
Step 1
Determine the cause of your dog's poor coat condition. The most common are: frequent washing with chlorinated water using reactive shampoos, improper brushing, rare walks, unbalanced nutrition, keeping the dog in high temperature conditions, infectious diseases.
Step 2
Take proper care of your pet's coat. Wash it only when necessary, use good dog shampoos and special products for certain breeds. Never use human shampoos, as the acidity is not suitable for your dog's skin.
Step 3
Brush wire-haired dogs every day. For long-haired pets, use special combs that look like combs with rare and blunt teeth. Treat soft wool with a slicker once every two months, more often when shedding. Small dogs have a delicate coat, which must not only be combed frequently, but also protected from bad weather with waterproof overalls. Groom or trim your dog regularly. Take care of your pet's beard and mustache - after the breed, they do not require such careful care, but their coat should be regularly brushed with a stiff brush.
Step 4
Change your dog's diet. If the coat has become dull, and the skin is oily, add vitamin A. If the pigmentation is disturbed, this indicates a lack of copper or fat. Redness and flaking of the skin, hair loss indicate a lack of vitamins B2 and B3. Poor coat growth can be caused by insufficient protein. Excessive vitamins can also be harmful to the pet, for example, when oversaturated with calcium, the coat becomes worse.
Step 5
Introduce unsaturated fatty acids in the form of various oils into your dog's diet. For example, give your animal two tablespoons of olive oil or flaxseed oil. To make up for the lack of vitamins, feed your pet with fresh liver and kidneys, eggs, and give him fortified fish oil. Add vitamin preparations to food: microvit, trivitamin, retinol. Don't make up a dog's menu with leftovers from your table. The best solution would be to feed with special premium food - they contain all the necessary substances and vitamins for dogs.
Step 6
Take the animal to the veterinarian to check for infectious diseases. Such diseases can cause deterioration of the coat. Get your dog's urine and blood tested, and check for fleas or worms. Take preventive measures against parasites regularly using special products from spring to autumn.
