Dachshund, at first glance, is an absurdly long dog with disproportionately short legs. She looks funny and awkward. Meanwhile, these are burrowing, hunting dogs - agile, cheerful, possessing an excellent reaction, high intelligence and the ability to learn. Fans of this breed claim that even a sense of humor is inherent in dachshunds. If so, then the process of training and teaching teams will be of interest to both of you.
Instructions
Step 1
From the moment a puppy appears in your house, his upbringing and training begins. Even a toddler should not be allowed to do what an adult dog will not allow: begging at the table, sleeping on your bed and couch, gnawing on wires, things and shoes. Kids can be tamed - give the command "Fu!" or "No", older puppies can be slapped with a newspaper, an adult dog - with a strap. Even a light slap will be perceived by the dachshund as a punishment, but he will understand that this should not be done, only if it followed immediately after the offense.
Step 2
The most important command "Come to me" will be easily understood by the puppy if you call the dog in this way during feeding. When practicing other commands and skills, use a treat as a reward.
Step 3
For the safety of your dog on the street, teach him the “Near” command. Practice the leash exercise. As soon as the dachshund stops adhering to your stride, reverse the direction of travel. Such a tangible opposition to her haste or slowness, the dachshund will quickly remember and begin to follow this command, especially if obedience is rewarded.
Step 4
The command "Sit" is useful when the dachshund can be forced to draw in its hind legs and sit down by slightly pressing on its croup or with the left hand on the shoulder, where the "pressure point" is located in the dogs. It is also used in relationships between dogs, dominant dogs put pressure on it when it is necessary to show superiority. When the dog sits down and it manages to stay in this position for a while, stroke and praise it, treat it with a tasty treat. When she gets up, repeat the exercise again. One lesson should not last more than 10 minutes. Come back to working out the command after a while.
Step 5
After your dachshund has learned to execute the Sit command, go to the Lie command. Have her sit on the floor. Say clearly the command "Lie down" and gently pull her front paws, forcing him to lie down. Praise her, give her a reward, and repeat the exercise a couple more times. After some time, consolidate the acquired skill.
