Many today, thinking about purchasing a pet, opt for the so-called exotic animals - lizards. What is it? A tribute to fashion? Wanting to stand out and highlight your personality? Or just a desire to experience new experiences? Be that as it may, in this case, the most important thing is to be able to properly maintain your pet.
Instructions
Step 1
Only house lizards in terrariums. For the proper maintenance of any lizards, water is required.
Step 2
Remember that lizards are predators by nature. Therefore, provide them with both plant and animal food on a daily basis.
Step 3
If you have purchased a small rainforest lizard, plant plenty of plants in your terrarium. They will maintain the proper moisture level and allow the animal to drink. After all, these lizards do not drink like ordinary animals - they lick water droplets from the leaves of plants. To always form drops on the leaves, spray the plants several times a day, it is usually recommended to do this in the morning and evening.
Step 4
In their natural environment, lizards should take refuge from time to time. Provide your pet with similar shelters. Place them taking into account the peculiarities of the biology of the species. For example, for nocturnal species of lizards, equip a shelter near a heating device. This will keep it warm throughout the day.
Step 5
Provide enough soil in the terrarium. The lizard must be able to dig holes. The soil can be very different, but it is necessarily absorbent, easy to clean, and if swallowed, it is easy to digest.
Step 6
Lizards need constant heating. But remember that the temperature of the heated place must be maintained in accordance with the needs of one kind or another. For example, viviparous or nimble lizards need 28 degrees, Egyptian spiny tails need a temperature of 40 degrees, or even higher.
Step 7
Use different forms and types of terrariums to house different types of lizards. For terrestrial animals, set up a horizontal terrarium. For tree lizards, vertical terrariums are better suited. And lizards that live both on the ground and in trees will feel great in cubic terrariums.
