Budgerigars are one of the most popular pets. They delight the eye with their bright plumage, are unpretentious in keeping, and readily breed in captivity. The vocal apparatus of these birds is designed in such a way that they can be taught to speak words and even whole sentences.
Instructions
Step 1
In order for the budgie to start talking, training must begin at an early age. Get a chick from the birthday of which has passed from two weeks to a month. After you bring your bird home, give it a week to adapt. As soon as you notice that the parrot is no longer afraid of you, is used to the cage, chirps cheerfully and plays with a mirror, you can start teaching him words.
Step 2
If you have purchased a pair of budgerigars, then one will have to be planted during training. Males learn to talk more easily than females. Therefore, transplant the female into another cage.
Step 3
During training, there should be no unnecessary noise in the room. Close the windows, dim the lights. You can even cover the parrot cage with a handkerchief or towel. The bird should not be distracted while studying.
Step 4
Best of all, parrots perceive children's and women's voices by ear. The fact is that words spoken in a high timbre are more easily absorbed by the bird's brain and, accordingly, are memorized faster.
Step 5
The best time to teach a parrot to speak is morning and afternoon. During the night, the bird will get enough sleep, rest and begin to accept everything new with pleasure.
Step 6
You need to learn the word for 40 minutes 2-3 times a day. The break between lessons should be at least half an hour.
Step 7
The first words must necessarily contain the letters a, o, k, n, p, t. These vowels and consonants are the easiest to pronounce for a parrot.
Step 8
Experienced budgerigar breeders advise using available tools in training. Record on a disc or cassette the word or phrase you want to teach the bird. During the lesson, just turn on the tape recorder. Then you don't need to sit next to the cage and repeat the words yourself. Just make sure that the recording quality is at the highest level. Crackling and hiss can slow learning a lot.
Step 9
The hardest thing to learn is the first word. This can take up to two weeks of daily activities. Further training will go much easier.
Step 10
The number of words memorized directly depends on the abilities of the bird. Some people learn only 20 letter combinations, and especially gifted individuals - up to 600.
