The long-awaited time for summer holidays has come again. I really want to go to the sea, but what about the dog? This, of course, is not about Great Danes or Shepherd Dogs - everything is more complicated here! But it is a pity to leave a little fluffy like a Spitz or York in someone's care, they can be taken with you. How to organize it correctly? What to do, how to prepare?
Leaving the dog on vacation to one of your friends or acquaintances is possible, but it will be very stressful for her. There is even such a method of behavior correction as "overexposure": the animal is given for a while to an unfamiliar place to strangers, and the transferred stress forces the dog to be obedient. Therefore, you should not expose your pet to such difficult trials and just take it with you on vacation; if everything is done correctly, then no serious problems will arise.
How to prepare
Dog preparation
Long before the trip, take care of raising and adapting your furry to transport and a large number of people around. Take a few bus rides, subway trips, visit (if possible) a nearby beach. Pay special attention to how the dog reacts to others: it should not bark at someone, let alone rush. If necessary, carry out appropriate educational work or contact specialists in animal behavior problems - zoopsychologists (now there are such doctors in many large clinics).
Be sure to consult with your veterinarian before traveling, tell in detail where and for how long you are traveling. Listen carefully to all recommendations, undergo a medical examination.
Get all required annual vaccinations:
- DHHPI - from the plague of carnivores (plague), hepatitis and interitis;
- R - from rabies;
- L - from leptospirosis
If the vaccination is carried out for the first time, then you will have to visit the clinic twice, so do everything in advance.
Be sure to issue a veterinary passport. It should have a photo of the dog pasted in, all the data (name, breed, owner) should be indicated, the organization's stamp should be. In the corresponding section, special stickers from all vaccine vials should be pasted, the date of vaccination should be indicated and the doctor's personal stamp should be.
Be sure to take your veterinary passport with you in order to avoid unforeseen problems. The rules of carriage on any intercity transport change periodically, so in any case, the presence of this document will not be superfluous.
Be sure to treat the ticks before the trip. In the same Krasnodar Territory, on the Black Sea coast, ticks are found from March to October and there is a danger of infection with borreliosis.

Never trim your pussies before going to the sea! The opinion that thanks to a haircut she will not be hot is deeply mistaken! Wool is an excellent protection of the animal not only from cold, but also from overheating. In addition, due to the lack of sufficient wool, the dog will get a skin burn in the hot southern sun!
Organization of the trip
The exact place where you will spend your vacation with your pet must be determined in advance. There is a fairly large number of different boarding houses and holiday homes where it is allowed to stay with pets, so you just need to find exactly what suits you and book the selected room or buy a ticket for a certain period.
Alternatively, you can rent an apartment or room in the private sector or in a mini-hotel. It is also easy to do this in advance if the selected resort town has its own website with a classifieds section, but do not forget to indicate that you will bring your dog.
Familiarize yourself with the current rules for the carriage of animals on the intercity transport of your choice, if necessary, buy an additional ticket.
What to take with you
This will be a "camping house" for your furry, and in a new unfamiliar room - a "place", ie. personal space to sleep and rest. Do not use plastic products for this purpose: they are heavy and uncomfortable, especially on a long journey! It is much more convenient to carry it made of fabric, but with rather rigid walls, a shoulder strap and an internal carabiner for fixing the dog. It is advisable to put your pet's favorite rug inside.
Special dog diapers are very comfortable during such travels. For example, on the train, you can safely let the pet out of the carrier into your sleeping place - this will be correct from the point of view of hygiene and will protect you from certain surprises. If you want to go somewhere by taxi, then the presence of such a diaper will remove many questions and the requirement of additional payment for "cleaning the salon from wool."
This is the foundation of your pet's safety, especially in an unfamiliar place. In any unforeseen and dangerous situation, you can easily and quickly pull the dog to you and pick it up.
Be sure to take water in a plastic bottle with you on the road. For feeding, use what you normally give at home. If your dog is on proper homemade food, then take with you good, expensive canned food with a natural composition and a pleasant meaty smell. Such canned food can be stored for a long time, so you can take a large amount of them at once.
These are must-have items that you can't do without. You can also take:
- wipes for washing paws;
- a small favorite toy;
- bone
On the way
If you are traveling by train, be sure to take your dog out into the street during stops (to cope with natural needs). That being said, remember that it is your responsibility to clean up after your pet. The journey by plane takes a shorter time, but you shouldn't forget about the toilet either.
During the rest
Arrange a place to sleep and rest upon arrival. It will be better if such a place is a carrier with a mat lying inside: it will protect the fluffy from possible drafts. The entrance to this peculiar house should always be open. Place bowls for water and food nearby.
Go outside with your dog, look around and choose a place for the toilet.
Be sure to get a beach umbrella. Remember: while on the beach, the dog must always be in the shade!
Helpful advice
On such trips, it is very convenient to take a medium-sized basket with you to go to the beach with it. You can put all the necessary things in such a basket, as well as it will serve as a convenient carrying, in which it will be very convenient for your pet to "ride", especially if the way back and forth takes 10 or more minutes.
