The pedigree usually includes all the data about the dog up to the third or fourth generation, depending on the rules of the club. If there are no data on any relatives of the dog, then such a pedigree will be considered inferior.

Therefore, buy a dog only if he has a puppy card. It consists of two almost identical parts, which are filled in upon purchase. All items must be filled in the metric. The name, breed, color, brand, date of birth, parents, breeder and owner should be indicated here. The card must be certified by the signature of the dog handler and the seal of the club.

The metric is a temporary document. It is she who serves as the basis for obtaining a pedigree, as well as a general litter card, which must be registered by the breeder. You hand over a puppy card to the Russian Kennel Federation and after a while you get a ready-made pedigree. If there are not enough papers for the parents, you will be returned a card with a corresponding note. According to the "internal" pedigree, you will be able to participate only in Russian exhibitions, therefore, if you plan to participate in international competitions, then you should take care of obtaining an "export" pedigree.

To obtain an international pedigree, it is necessary to submit the original of the Russian pedigree to the same cynological federation. When you receive this document, you will be able to participate in international exhibitions, you will also need it for registration of mating with dogs from other countries. The export pedigree is also valid on Russian territory.

But what if a purebred dog has no pedigree? In such cases, a registered pedigree is drawn up. Your pet should be examined by experts, and it is they who can give an opinion whether your dog is a breed or not. In case of a positive answer, you will be issued a pedigree, where only this dog will be recorded. Thus, you can take part in any dog shows.
