One and a half month old kittens still need breast milk, therefore, at this age, as a rule, they are not yet given to new owners. But, if it happened that such a baby appeared in your house, of course, you need to feed him taking into account the needs inherent in this period of the cat's life.
Features of feeding kittens from 1 to 2 months
A month and a half is a transitional period for a kitten, since at the age of 1 month he is still completely breastfed, and at 2 months he can already eat the same food as an adult cat, only in a small amount and crushed. Usually, at a month and a half, the kitten is already accustomed to solid food - they start feeding cats with it from 3 weeks, so you don't have to do this anymore. But solid food is not yet pieces of raw meat or fish, but mostly liquid cereals and special milk mixtures with the addition of chopped natural feed.
If there are no such mixtures intended for kittens, you can feed him with regular infant formula with the addition of ground cereals. The temperature of the mixture should be 24-26 degrees. This is the age of intensive growth, when a kitten is gaining 25 g of weight every day, so take into account its growing needs, adjusting the amount of food. The kitten should be fed 4-5 times a day and be sure to always have fresh and clean water in the bowl.
If you feed your kitten with a special dry food intended for such babies, do not forget that until 4-5 months old this food must be soaked in water.
Kitten diet at 1, 5 months
Give him milk porridge: semolina, oatmeal, buckwheat, cooked without adding salt and sugar. From fermented milk products: dietary cottage cheese, bio-kefir and fermented baked milk, yogurt and low-fat sour cream in small quantities, 10% not cream. You can give boiled yolk twice a week or mix it raw with curd. Mild types of cheese can also be included in the kitten's menu, but the cheese must first be grated on a coarse grater. Boiled vegetables can be mixed into porridge or cottage cheese: carrots, cabbage.
Raw meat - veal, lean lamb can be given in the form of coarse minced meat or boiled and cut into small pieces. If you give poultry - chicken or turkey, use only white meat and preferably boiled. Chopped raw, you can give chicken or beef liver, beef heart, and pieces of lung. It is very good if the menu includes low-fat marine fish: cod, haddock, hake. It is also better to boil it and give it to the kitten, kneading it well with a fork.
Completely exclude from the kitten's diet: river fish, pork, smoked, sweet and salty.
A good and balanced diet consisting of natural products should in any case be supplemented with vitamins. From one and a half months, the kitten can be given special vitamin complexes: "Doctor Zoo", "Farmavit", "Biofar" or Kitzim.
