Has a parrot appeared in your house? Take your time to start training your pet right away. To begin with, he must get used to the owner and stop being afraid of an outstretched hand. The first day in a new home is very exciting. Changing habitat, transportation, an abundance of unfamiliar smells - all this scares the bird, causing severe stress. To make it easier for your pet to get used to it, you need to follow a few simple rules.
Instructions
Step 1
Introduce your parrot into a fully equipped cage. Take care of the food in advance, fresh water should be poured into the drinker. In the first hours, do not disturb the bird, let it calmly look around and understand that nothing threatens it. If other animals live in the house, then for the first time it is better to remove them from the room.
Step 2
Calmly approach the cage, talking affectionately with the parrot. Try not to make sudden movements that can scare the bird. Parrots are by nature very inquisitive. Very soon you will notice that the bird has begun to calmly react to your approach, has ceased to be afraid of the sounds of a voice.
Step 3
The next step will be hand taming. Approach the cage, talking affectionately with the pet, offer him a treat through the twigs. Small pieces of an apple or carrot work well for this purpose. As soon as the bird starts to take them, we try to carefully open the door and offer a treat from our hand inside the cage. Happened? Then we put the treat in the palm of our hand: in order to reach it, the parrot will have to put one paw on his hand first, and then the other. At this moment, try not to scare the pet away, because you have practically achieved the result - the parrot sits in the palm of your hand!
Step 4
When the parrot gets used to eating from your hand, you can try treating your pet outside the cage. Gradually, the parrot will begin to climb onto the hand and without a treat - after all, communication with the owner also gives the bird pleasure.
