Bushbok is an animal that lives in Africa. It belongs to the genus of forest antelopes of the subfamily of bulls. Bushboks are beautiful mammals of the artiodactyl order.
The bushbuck is a species of African antelope. They can often be seen in the bushes at the foot of the mountains and near the river. During the day, bushboks need tree cover, but at night they can be in areas that are not protected by vegetation.
African forests are of great importance to these antelopes. However, zoologists have proven that they can adapt even to highly modified environments such as pine.
The color of the animal depends on the habitat: for example, in bushboks living in dense forests, the coat is darker. All moving parts of the body (ears, jaw, tail, legs and neck) have specks of geometric shapes. It is noteworthy that their horns are almost straight, with one turn at the base.
Bushboks are the only African antelopes living separately. Of the 1,380 animals participating in the experiment conducted by scientists, 61% moved alone, and 29% - in pairs.
These antelopes feed on grass, fallen fruits, tree bark, flowers, tubers, legumes and shrubs. Large animals, they can reach 180 pounds in weight and 35 inches in height at the withers.
Unlike other antelopes, bushboks do not allow birds to clean insects from their fur. In addition to diseases spread by parasites, they often become carriers of rinderpest.
Today, these beautiful animals are threatened by a decline in habitat caused by human actions. This has already led to the destruction of several populations of bushboks. Fortunately, they are still quite numerous and not considered an endangered species.
