Acquiring a dog is a joy, but in order for a pet to coexist safely with you, you need to explain to him the rules of behavior in the apartment. In particular, that at night, when you are resting, he should also sleep.
Instructions
Step 1
Get your dog a comfy bed or make one out of the box. To help a new member of your household get used to it faster, ask the breeder for something that the puppy is used to. It could be a favorite toy, a piece of bedding. Putting it on the puppy's sleeping place will help him feel calmer and fall asleep faster.
Step 2
Once in a new home, a small puppy will show signs of anxiety. He misses his mother, brothers and sisters, the familiar environment. The kid can whine, not leave a single step from the new owner, demanding attention to himself. With the coming of night, it will not be easy to calm him down. To make the dog fall asleep, move his couch closer to your bed. While lying in bed, you can talk to your pet, lower your hand and stroke it, soothing it. Of course, if you take your puppy to your bed, he will probably stop fussing faster and fall asleep. But if you plan to teach the animal to sleep not with you, but exclusively in its place, it is better to refuse this.
Step 3
To help your dog sleep soundly at night, allow him to warm up well in the evening. Take your dog for a walk just before bed. Run with your pet, invite him to jump over obstacles, chase a ball or a thrown stick. If your puppy is small and does not go for a walk yet, play active games with him at home. After the animal gets tired, it will fall into a serene sound sleep.
Step 4
The last meal can also be rescheduled until late in the evening, making it the most satisfying. Feed the puppy meat at this time or slightly increase the amount of food. Dogs, like many people, feel sleepy after a hearty dinner, which will play into your hands.
Step 5
It may be cold for a small puppy to sleep alone, because he is used to having his mother and brothers by his side. Put a warm heating pad in his house or just a bottle filled with hot water and wrapped in a cloth so that the baby does not get burned. The dog will quickly warm up and fall asleep calmly.
Step 6
It can take more than a day to train your dog to sleep at night. This can take a long time, so please be patient. Be attentive and affectionate to the dog. If the dog got out of his house in the middle of the night and began to whine, get up, put him back in place and stroke him until he calms down. However, do not start playing with the puppy, even if he is trying to grab your fingers with his teeth and is carrying toys to you. You may have to spend a few sleepless nights, but in the end you will be able to raise an obedient dog.
