Appearance
The appearance of the Shiba Inu leaves no one indifferent. This dog is very proportional, it harmoniously combines the charm of a wild animal and the charm of a plush toy. Especially adorable babies are fluffy, with expressive elongated muzzles and a thick body. Growing up, dogs acquire an impressive posture and a beautiful physique. The height of dogs is average - males grow up to 41 cm at the withers, the growth of bitches should not exceed 38 cm. The body of an adult Shiba Inu is muscular, lean, very harmonious. Moderately long straight legs, a short, powerful neck and the main attraction is a beautifully curled bushy tail. The animal reaches its ideal proportions rather quickly - already at the age of 2 the Shiba Inu looks fully formed.
The color of the Shiba Inu can be different, but most often there are red, sand, black and red dogs. White and cream markings on the legs, belly, tail and chest are not considered to be defects. The coat of dogs is dense, shiny, with a thick undercoat, evenly covering the body. It should not curl or form bald spots.
Beautiful and bold
The character of the Shiba Inu is strong, sometimes hot-tempered. Males tend to dominate, and bitches do not like to be commanded too much. The deceptive "plush" appearance of the puppies hides a very strong will, to which the pets are not averse to subordinating both the owner and all household members. So that there are no problems with an adult dog, it is important to start raising a puppy right away. Shiba Inu are intelligent and loyal enough. With the correct, strict, but fair upbringing, they will quickly take a place in the house that suits everyone.
The dog is very mobile. In order for the Shiba Inu to look great and develop well, he needs to provide good physical activity - long walks, games in the fresh air. The pet will be happy to accompany the owner on a jog or bike ride. Shiba Inu are not capricious in food and have a good appetite. To maintain their shape, they can be fed with professional ready-made feeds or cooked on their own.
Some owners keep Shiba Inu not in city apartments, but in open-air cages. Dogs can tolerate cold temperatures with a well-equipped and wind-protected shelter. But letting them go on independent walks is not worth it. The freedom-loving and independent character can play a cruel joke with the dog. Provide your pet with toys and communicate with him more often - it is important for Shiba Inu to feel needed and loved.
