The aquarium is a wonderful decoration for an apartment, as well as an amazing opportunity to get to know the world of underwater inhabitants better. To keep your aquarium beautiful and well-groomed, you need to clean it regularly.
Instructions
Step 1
Aquarium maintenance can be divided into two parts. The first is weekly events, the second is general cleaning.
Step 2
In order to clean your aquarium less often, you need to install a good cleaning filter. It is also recommended to have several snails and catfish, which are the natural orderlies of the water house.
Step 3
Inspect your aquarium weekly. Remove uneaten food immediately. Otherwise, it will decompose, thereby creating excellent conditions for the rapid reproduction of microflora. If fish excrement has accumulated at the bottom, then it is necessary to remove them with a special tube. If you notice plaque on the glass or excessive algae growth, a scraper will help to make the glass clean again. All items for aquarium care are sold at the pet store.
Step 4
Rinse the filter sponge weekly. A lot of dirt accumulates on it, which affects the quality of the unit.
Step 5
Change a third of the aquarium water weekly with fresh water. Watch the growth of plants - remove decaying parts in time.
Step 6
The frequency of general cleaning in the aquarium depends on its volume, fish population, availability of aeration equipment. As a general rule, the larger the tank, the less often you need to clean it.
Step 7
During general cleaning, it is necessary to plant the fish in jars, turn off the equipment. Then you can start flushing the aquarium itself. Do not use aggressive detergents - later they can harm the fish. Rinse the soil thoroughly. Some experts advise to boil it. If there are driftwood or decorative stones in the aquarium, then they can also be boiled. Wash the plants, remove overgrown shoots.
Step 8
Fill the aquarium with soil, fill it by a third with water, install driftwood and plant the plants. Fill the aquarium with water (30-50% of the water must be filled from the old aquarium). Turn on the equipment. If the water becomes cloudy, then you need to wait a few days until its color normalizes. To speed up this process, you can use a special conditioner that is sold at the pet store. After the water becomes crystal clear, you can re-launch the fish into it.
