Should you give your dogs milk?
Dairy products contain lactose, which is easily absorbed by puppies. The intestinal tract of adults does not contain a special enzyme (lactase), without which the process of digesting milk is impossible. Dogs can be bothered by diarrhea and all kinds of stomach upsets.
It is highly undesirable to give dairy drinks to breeds prone to food allergic reactions. These include all light-colored dogs (terriers, bulldogs, boxers, setters, etc.), especially small breeds (pug, lapdog).

Which milk is best for dogs

Mare's milk is significantly different from the milk of other animals. It contains 2 times less fat and protein, but it contains much more lactose. Therefore, veterinarians do not recommend giving dogs mare's milk. A fermented milk drink (kumis) made on its basis is also prohibited, since it contains ethyl alcohol.
You can find lactose-free milk in stores. This is the best option for pets. Dogs drink it with great pleasure, without getting any harm to their health.
Diluting dry feed with milk is unacceptable. They contain preservatives and pathogenic flora, which multiply intensively in a dairy environment and can lead to animal poisoning. Adult dogs should be treated with milk diluted with water.
It is important to monitor the pet's reaction. The slightest sign of diarrhea or vomiting is the reason to stop feeding the dog with milk. In any case, the frequent use of milk by animals is not encouraged, since it creates a significant load on the liver.
