Keeping ravens as pets has become fashionable. However, do not fall for fashion trends or momentary moods. Before you get yourself such a pet, think over everything well, evaluate your capabilities. Read everything you can find about raising and keeping a bird and think again. Keeping a crow at home is difficult.
Instructions
Step 1
The raven is a very careful and intelligent bird. It differs from other representatives of the corvid family in larger sizes. The wingspan reaches 120-150 cm. The plumage is shiny, black with a blue tint, the beak is massive. It lives everywhere, with the exception of North America and North Africa. It is, however, quite rare. And it is extremely rare in cities. It is kept as pets much more often than other representatives of the corvid family.
Step 2
Chicks are taken at the age of 2-3 months. It is difficult to tame a six-month-old chick. Adult birds, with rare exceptions, are not tamed at all. The first 1-2 months you will have to be with the funnel almost all the time. The chick's diet includes cereals, cottage cheese, grated carrots, baby food without preservatives, pieces of beef. Calcium must be included. Chicks are fed every hour and a half. From time to time it is necessary to take the little crow into the street. Use a basket or box for this. Make sure the chick does not overheat.
Step 3
The raven is a large bird, and an ordinary cage is not suitable for keeping it. It is necessary to equip an aviary with dimensions of at least 2x2 m. Place several perches-perches inside the aviary or reinforce a tree with strong branches so that the bird is comfortable to sit on them. Cover the floor of the enclosure with linoleum or make a metal pallet. Cover it with sawdust.
Step 4
Ravens love to swim. Give him this opportunity, otherwise he will try to bathe in a sippy cup. Every day, or at least every other day, put a basin of water in the aviary. Remove the basin after bathing.
Step 5
The raven is an active bird. Secure the feeder and sippy well, otherwise it will constantly turn them over. Provide your pet with a set of toys. For this purpose, any small-sized objects, preferably shiny, are suitable. If the crow has nothing to do, then he himself will find entertainment for himself. Most likely, it will ruin everything that it can reach.
Step 6
Spend at least 2-3 hours a day communicating with a bird, talk to a raven, because he is able to reproduce human speech. Take a walk every day, let's fly. To do this, you need to take it out of town. The tamed bird returns at the call of the owner. An untamed and untrained bird must not be released. She can fly away, get lost and die. You can train a raven using the method of training birds of prey.
Step 7
The basis of the diet of adult poultry is meat: beef, boiled chicken, chicken necks and heads, rabbit meat, mice, day-old chickens. It is also necessary to give buckwheat and oatmeal, cottage cheese, berries, apples, eggs, carrots. Do not give sweets, fatty foods, rye bread, potatoes, citrus fruits. Food must not be salted.
