Sometimes it is necessary to ensure that the dog does not approach a certain place, for example, a flower bed or a crib, but it is important not to scare the animal or hurt it. In such a situation, you can use odors that will be unpleasant to the dog.
Citrus
The citrus scent is pleasant to most people and unpleasant to most dogs. If you want to drive the dog away from some place where you yourself spend a lot of time, it is best to use oranges, lemons, limes, tangerines and grapefruits for these purposes. You can spread out the sliced fruit or the peeled fruit, or you can use a freshener with the appropriate scent. At the same time, remember that a dog's sense of smell is much finer than that of a human. It is not necessary to decorate a flower bed or nursery with mountains of tropical gifts, a couple of fruits will be enough. Your four-legged friend will give up trying to enter forbidden territory, and you can enjoy the pleasant scent.
Pepper
But the smell of pepper has a repulsive effect on many representatives of the animal world. Nevertheless, it is very convenient to use it to scare away dogs, but this should be done exclusively on the street, so as not to suffer from coughing and sore eyes. Ground red pepper will be most effective, but black pepper can also be used for lack of it. Just sprinkle a small amount of crushed powder around the perimeter of your fence or along your garden beds to keep your area safe, and remember to update your impromptu protection after rain. Dogs will go around this territory.
Alcohol
Alcohol, both ammonia and ethyl, is suitable to scare away dogs. Soak a few rags, swabs, or cotton pads in the liquid and spread them around the area where you want to close the animal. The odor, unpleasant for the dog, will persist even after the material is dry. If you prevent the dog from accessing the beds in this way, make sure that alcohol does not come into contact with the soil - such a neighborhood can negatively affect the plants.
Get out of my garden
There are special products that have a scent that repels dogs. In English-speaking countries, this line is presented under the telling name "Get out of my garden", in Russia it is known as "Antigadin". At the veterinary store, you can buy powder, gel and spray, which for a while will discourage the dog from meddling in the place they have treated. The package indicates the period during which the product is valid, after which it must be updated. The advantage is that "Antigadin" is resistant to the action of water, and you do not have to reapply the drug every time after rain.
