Step 1
During the breeding period, separate the pheasant family (6-10 females per male). Equip an enclosure consisting of a warm room, a walk and a shed. There should be additional lighting in the room. Calculate the area of the enclosure based on the requirements of 5 square meters per 1 head. The paddock should be tightened on top with a soft net, as pheasants can fly up sharply.
Step 2
Prepare the feed. One head needs about 80 g of grain per day. Pheasants should be fed with high protein mixes. Add green cut grass to the feed in summer and hay in winter. Boiled vegetables, meat and bone meal and minced meat can be added to the feed. Pheasants enjoy themselves with pleasure on berries (blueberries, strawberries, mountain ash, cranberries). Birds should be injected with trivitamin in winter.
Step 3
Prepare artificial nests for females. Place sheaves of dry grass in the aviary or plant bushes on the territory of the pheasantry. The female lays up to 60 eggs during the breeding period.
Step 4
Equip your pheasantry with spacious feeders and drinkers. For dry food, you can use feeders for chickens. Fall asleep food for 2-3 days in order to disturb the bird less. Make sure that all individuals have enough room near the feeders and drinkers. The pheasant is a very nervous bird and if the stocking density is not observed or the crowdedness near the feeders in the herd, pecking will begin.
Step 5
Have a sand bath in your bird aviary. Pour sand and ash into a shallow box. Pheasants bathing in the sand are freed from downy eaters.
Step 6
Grow young pheasants on a dry bedding (hay, sand, sawdust). Stocking density of young stock - up to 25 heads per 1 sq. M. The temperature in the room with weekly young stock should be at least 28 ° С. It is gradually reduced to 20 ° C.
