The desire for naturalness and naturalness in everything that concerns the everyday life of people has led to an increase in the popularity of skins in the interior. Cow skins are especially famous due to their availability for most of the population. The main thing when using skin in the interior is to learn how to take care of it.
With regular cleaning of the room, some simple manipulations are usually carried out with cowhide. First, the skin, like an ordinary carpet, is cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, and the cleaning must be dry. Then it is ventilated outside, but care must be taken that it is not exposed to direct sunlight. Also, the skin is knocked out, and then the hairline is combed.
When the seamy side of the dressed hide (flesh) coarsens, a solution of vinegar essence mixed with table salt and water in a ratio of 2: 3: 1 will help to restore its elasticity and softness. With this solution, you just need to moisten the skin, and at the same time smooth the skin and stretch it slightly in all directions. The procedure is repeated two to three times with intervals of two to three hours. When the skin dries, it is lubricated with a fat emulsion, for which they mix warm water (1 l), castor oil (100 g), soap (100 g) and ammonia (15-20 drops).
If you lose the original appearance, in order to restore the shine and silkiness of the hairline, you need to rub chicken eggs into the skin. It is worth considering that for light fur, it is better to choose rubbing in regular starch. You need to leave the skin for an hour and a half with the applied product, and then knock it out.
In case of appearance of spots on the skin from various substances, it is advisable to use different methods of cleaning it. So, if water is spilled on a cow's hide, it must be quickly eliminated. Moisture has a very negative effect on the characteristics of the product: the flesh immediately swells and shrinks after drying, and the quality of the top layer - the hairline - also deteriorates. The water stain can be blotted with a cotton towel. If a blood stain has formed, the place of contamination must be immediately rinsed with cold water and then properly dried.
If a coffee or wine stain has formed on the surface of the hide, use a solvent to remove the stain. And so that the liquid does not immediately spread further, the edges of the stain can be sprinkled with talcum powder or starch.
The grease stain is removed with such improvised means as regular gasoline or pure kerosene. A mixture of ammonia, salt and water in a 1: 3: 0, 5 ratio can also help. There are also special products for cleaning skins and fur. Chlorine-containing or freon-containing substances for cleaning the skin are harmful, and therefore, when handing it in for dry cleaning, the means used should be clarified.
Wax drops from candles can be removed with an iron. Put a napkin in place of contamination, and iron it on top with a hot iron. Chewing gum from the skin, as well as from clothes, is removed with ice. So the chewing gum loses some of its sticky properties.
Dry the skin, if necessary, either in a ventilated room without using heating devices, or outdoors, but after hiding it from direct sunlight.
