Dog shoes and clothing have gone from being a fad to a must-have. Overalls and sweaters protect dogs from frost and wind, while soft booties and boots protect paws from dirt and hazardous chemicals. You can buy the right shoes at the pet store, but it's much more fun to make your own. If you own a crochet or knitting needle, tie a pair of walking kits for your pet. The dog will surely appreciate your concern.

Instructions
Step 1
Choose a yarn of a suitable texture and color. It is most practical to use a thick but soft thread made from a wool or cotton / polyester blend. If your dog is wearing a sweater, jumpsuit, or hat, choose thread that matches the outfit. Contrasting combinations also look good - for example, a bright red jumpsuit can be supplemented with black booties. Large short-haired dogs look very elegant in boots made of threads that match the tone of their coat. Do not choose too light shades - the booties will get dirty very quickly.
Step 2
Make a simple pattern. Place the dog's paw on a piece of paper and trace around it with a pencil. Measure the circumference and height of the leg to the hock. Write down all the measurements and get to work.
Step 3
The easiest way is to crochet booties. Cast on a chain of chain stitches. The length should correspond to the girth of the paws plus one to two centimeters for a free fit. Close the chain in a ring and knit in single crochet. The length of the resulting pipe should be equal to the desired bootie height. Don't make it too short or the dog will kick off his shoes.
Step 4
When finished, secure the thread by tying it in a knot. Referring to the pattern, tie the sole in a circle. Start from the center and expand the circle, knitting two single crochets from each loop of the previous row. Attach the finished sole to the top of the booties, tying both parts with a crochet hook. To keep the shoe firmly fixed on the paw, thread a narrow tape or lace into the upper part.
Step 5
If you don't know how to crochet, use knitting needles. It is not necessary to scrupulously calculate the loops - the finished bootie should not overlap the paw, it is fixed with a fastener or tie. Tie a rectangle, the length of which is equal to the girth of the paw plus two centimeters for the fit, and the width is the height of the future booties. Sew the finished part to make a pipe.
Step 6
Make the sole of leather or waterproof fabric - then you can walk in the slush in booties. Using the sole pattern, cut out the details, leaving a seam allowance of half a centimeter. Assemble the bootie by stitching the sole to the top. Make the seam external so that it does not rub the dog's paw. Tuck the top of the boot up into a drawstring, hem it, and then pull in the elastic to secure the shoe.
