To do this, you can buy ready-made cells, but it will be much more interesting to make them with your own hands, especially since there is nothing complicated about it. However, in the construction of a cage, you need to take into account some features in the rules, thanks to which breeding rabbits will seem to you a real hobby.

Step 1
The first step is to decide on the number of cages you will need to raise your rabbits. A single female with her offspring will require at least three cells. One for the mother and two for the young. You will also need a separate cage for the male. Young animals can be kept in one cage for 7-10 heads.

A wide variety of materials can be used to build a cage, it can be wood, adobe or brick. The most important thing is that it is comfortable for rabbits, and it is convenient for the breeder to care for and maintain them.

If you decide to raise rabbits in the open air (for example, in the country), then the cage should be installed according to the following principle: deal with the support of the cage, it can be wooden racks dug into the ground. It is on them that the rabbit cage will hold. The most important element of a rabbit cage is a slatted or mesh floor, which should be made of oak, maple or beech. The floor needs to be made with a slight slope, about five centimeters in order for the urine to drain.

For the male, you can make a round cage, 40 centimeters in height and about 70-75 centimeters in diameter. Young animals should be kept in cages, the length of which should be 170 cm, width - 70 cm, height - 50 cm. The roof is recommended to be made of a plank with a 30-centimeter peak. Arrange a manger for hay, as well as drinkers and feeders in the front wall.
Step 5
For the construction of a double cage, you will need 0.2 m2 of lumber, 60 cm2 of a mesh with cells of 35x35 mm, 1.3 m2 of a metal mesh with cells of 18x18 mm. The length of such a cage will be about two meters, the height - 0.75 meters.
Step 6
In front of the cage, hang two mesh doors that should lead to the stern compartment and two plank doors that lead to the nest compartments. Hang removable feeders and drinkers on the door. The cages are best placed in forested areas. In winter, they will protect rabbits from the icy wind, and in summer from direct sunlight.
Step 7
Use straw or sawdust as bedding, place hay in a nursery. Buy clippers, vegetable holders, a mineral stone, and a rabbit grooming brush, especially if it's a long-haired rabbit.
