Sometimes it becomes necessary to transport a land turtle over a considerable distance. In pet stores, there are special carriers for reptiles. It is better to get one if your trip promises to be long. Otherwise, you can get by with a cardboard box or plastic container.

Step 1
The turtle needs to be prepared for transport. Do not feed the animal for one and a half to two days, maintaining access to water and the usual temperature in the terrarium. This is necessary to empty the intestines.
Step 2
Prepare a shipping container of suitable size. Best of all, if it is a plastic container or special carrier. A cardboard box is unsuitable for a long trip because it gets wet and can be ripped apart by a turtle striving for freedom. The lid of the container must have ventilation holes.
Step 3
The bottom of the container must be covered with a layer of large sawdust or paper. In the cold season, a heating pad is needed, hypothermia is extremely dangerous for turtles.
Step 4
Place the turtle in the shipping container. It is advisable to fill the remaining space with crumpled paper so that your pet does not bump against the walls. The container is covered with a lid that preserves air access.
