Keeping domestic rabbits in a cage has many advantages. The owner knows exactly how much food his pets have eaten, makes sure that everyone gets the same amount. It is with cellular maintenance that breeding becomes possible. In addition, the owner will immediately notice that the rabbits are sick, and will be able to provide medical assistance in a timely manner.
It is necessary
- For a single-tier cage for a pair of rabbits:
- Boards or thick plywood 0.2 sq. m
- Square timber for the frame
- Fine-mesh metal mesh with cells 18x18 mm - 1, 3 sq. M
- Metal mesh with cells 35x35mm - 0.6 sq. m
- Slats 3 cm wide
- Door hinges - 2 for the roof, 1 for each door.
- Door hooks or latches
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Saw
- Ax
- Sandpaper
- Hammer, nails, wood glue
Instructions
Step 1
Start with the wireframe. To do this, mark and cut the timber into pieces of the desired length. You need 4 slats of each size. Punch a rectangular parallelepiped from the pieces.
From a sheet of plywood, cut rectangles equal in size to the back and side walls. Sew them over the frame from the outside.
Step 2
Cut a rectangle out of the fine mesh that is 2/3 the size of the cage. Nail it to the bottom rails of the frame so that it overlaps with one side of the cage - this will be the aft compartment. Make a solid plank floor for the nest compartment.
Step 3
A partition must be placed between the compartments. It is made from a rectangular sheet of plywood, in size corresponding to the width and height of the cage. Cut a hole in the middle so that the rabbits can pass through.
Saw off 2 pieces from the slats, equal to the length and width of the cage. Saw off the corners so that there are no gaps when joining the rails at right angles. Nail the slats over the mesh along the inside perimeter of the cage.
Step 4
Make a roof from a sheet of plywood or planks. It should be slightly wider and longer than the cage, about 3-5 cm on each side. Attach door hinges to one side of the frame.
Step 5
Make doors. One of them is made of wood, it is intended for the nest compartment. Its length is approximately 1/3 the length of the cage. For the aft compartment, make one or two doors with coarse mesh and slats. First, make the frame of the door from the slats, then attach the metal mesh. Hang the doors on the door hinges. Attach hooks or latches.
