Flamingos belong to the genus of birds, which are the only ones in the flamingo family. These amazingly beautiful creatures belong to the flamingo order.
Flamingos have long legs with webbed toes that allow them to move quickly. The plumage of the bird can be either white or red. An amazing feature of the bird is that flamingos have a flexible neck that allows the head to rotate in different directions. The structure of the flamingo's beak is very powerful and curved downward. This is what helps the bird to filter the food consumed by the body. A distinctive feature of the flamingo's beak from other birds is that in the surveyed species, not the lower, but the upper part of the beak is actively working.
If flamingos face danger, they are capable of even taking off. Since the color of the feathers on the edges of the wings is black, it is difficult for a predator to focus its gaze while flying towards prey. In artificial habitat, flamingos do not change their natural color, because the breadwinners add carrots, bell peppers, and crayfish to their food.
Flamingos are found in Africa, the Caucasus, Southeast and Central Asia, and South and Central America. Flamingos of the pink category are most commonly found in southern Spain, France and Sardinia. This bird species settles in colonies on the shores of small bodies of water or lagoons.
Flamingos adapt even to such living conditions in which other birds cannot exist. They can be found on the shores of very salty and alkaline lakes, since a large number of crustaceans live in such reservoirs, which serve as food for birds.
