Each cat or cat is an individual. And this expression is not at all devoid of meaning. That is why there are different approaches to such a delicate issue as teaching a cat, especially an adult, to satisfy its needs in a litter box.
It is necessary
- - tray;
- - filler for cat litter.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, you need to properly organize the toilet for the cat, which must be placed in the most secluded place of the apartment, where no one will interfere with the animal. For these purposes, a bathroom, toilet, insulated balcony or loggia are suitable. As a cat litter, a plastic tray with sides, at least 10 centimeters deep, or a special toilet house, is well suited. The high sides of the litter box will allow your cat to dig into it, but the litter will not be scattered outside of it. The cat litter house has another added benefit - special filters on the lid, which purify the air after the cat has gone to the litter box. The tray should be stable, spacious enough so that your pet can safely twirl around, dig around, and choose a suitable place for it. Then it will be much easier to accustom an adult cat to.
Step 2
It is not recommended to use a tray with a mesh, as in this case the unpleasant smell will quickly spread throughout the apartment, the tray will have to be washed immediately. It will be much more difficult to accustom an adult cat to a litter box. Cats always try to bury the results of their "labors", which is why the tray must be filled with a special filler. High-quality cat litter consists of natural ingredients that quickly absorb moisture, prevent the spread of unpleasant odors and bacteria around the apartment. It is much easier and more pleasant to take care of such a toilet, since the filler granules easily absorb moisture and stick together into a lump. The lump of filler is simply enough to pull out and discard, filling in new granules.
Step 3
If an adult cat began to shit in the wrong places, persistently avoiding the tray, then in this case you should contact your veterinarian. Sometimes this behavior indicates a health problem. Very often, animals in this way draw your attention to their problem.
Step 4
It also happens that an adult cat simply begins to mark its territory. In this case, only castration or sterilization of the pet will help. Those places that the cat has already marked can be treated with a mixture of ammonia and lemon juice. The smell will quickly disappear, but the cat will feel it for a long time and bypass these places.
