Budgerigars are the most common house pets. Good adaptation to captivity, bright plumage and unpretentiousness in food have earned the parrots a good reputation. But, nevertheless, budgies need proper care.
Instructions
Step 1
If a budgerigar appears in your house, you need to properly equip the cage. It should contain at least two perches made of strong wood, a drinking bowl, a feeder and a bathing container. Hang special rings on which the feathered pet will swing. The bottom of the cage should be retractable, so it will be easier for you to clean it (you need to clean the cage daily, wash once a week). The bird cage should be located further from the sun and drafts. Keep the parrot away from the computer, provide for the pet the opportunity to hide from bright rays in the shade.
Step 2
It is desirable that the trough and drinker are made of porcelain or glass. It is better to pre-settle water for parrots so that chlorine evaporates, then just pour it into the drinking bowl. You need to change the water daily, in the warm season - twice a day. In spring and autumn, it is recommended to add three drops of fresh lemon juice to the drinker, which strengthens the feather cover and disinfects the water. Every day, wash the drinker and feeder with hot water and baking soda, and wipe dry.
Step 3
The budgerigar's diet should be balanced, so several feeders should be placed in the cage (for grains, fresh fruits and vegetables). For one adult parrot, two teaspoons of a grain mixture a day is enough, which consists mainly of oats, millet, canary seed, sunflower seeds. You can give birds porridge cooked in water, salad, fresh herbs, cottage cheese, sprouted cereals. To satisfy the poultry's body in protein, give your pet a finely chopped chicken egg. To ensure a good digestion process, the parrot needs clean river sand without various impurities.
Step 4
Parrots are constantly gnawing something, so you need to put fresh branches of rowan, linden and other deciduous trees in the cage. The buds and bark of fresh branches contain many minerals and vitamins, which are very useful for winged pets. Before placing the branches in the cage, wash them thoroughly and rinse them with boiling water several times.
