Step 1
For a snake, it is necessary to prepare a terrarium that is spacious and high enough - after all, an adult, depending on the variety, can reach a length of 1 - 1.5 m. Make sure that the terrarium is tightly closed with a mesh cover. The bottom can be covered with sand or peat. A prerequisite for keeping a snake is the presence of a reservoir in the terrarium. The size of the reservoir should be such that the snake can curl up there entirely. Place one two driftwood in the terrarium so your pet can climb just as it would in nature. Try to arrange them so that you can use them as shelter. Moss lined areas will also be a nice addition to the landscape - it will help to keep the moisture comfortable for the snake.
Step 2
Install an incandescent lamp over the terrarium, preferably with a mirrored reflector. This will allow you to get enough light and warmth even on rainy days. Also remember that the terrarium is best placed in the sunniest part of the room. Since it is not so easy to create already safe conditions for hibernation, it is better not to let him sink into this state. Hibernation can be avoided by providing the snake with sufficient warmth, light and live food all year round.
Step 3
One of the features of keeping snakes is that they need live, moving food. It can be for a snake frogs, tadpoles, small fish. In extreme cases, if there is no way to get live food in winter, you can accustom you to frozen food. But then the food will have to be forcibly put into the snake's mouth, since it will not perceive motionless pieces of meat or fish as food. This way of feeding can cause injury for the snake, due to the fragility of its jaws. You need to feed the snake about once every three days.
Step 4
If it already loses its mobility, and its skin - color and shine, it is possible that it will moult. It is important not to confuse this condition with illness. Another sign that the snake is about to shed is its urge to stay in the water as long and often as possible. You may be able to see how it is getting out of the old skin. After molting, your pet will appear in fresh scales, bright and shiny. Old skins can be preserved by observing the growth dynamics of the snake.
