The most popular turtle kept in domestic terrariums is the red-eared turtle. Look at her head. It should be green with red spots on the ears; the spots can be orange or yellow. Ask the seller where the turtle came from. Most of these representatives are imported from American turtle farms.

Get ready to feed the red-eared turtle with plant food, fish. Although the turtle is freshwater, keep it on dry land. Buy a large aquarium because an adult reaches up to 30 cm in length.

If you see a black turtle with yellow dots or stripes, be aware that this is a common marsh turtle that lives in the southern territory of Russia. She has a rather long tail (10 cm). This species is listed in the Red Book, the sale of turtles is prohibited. The turtles get into the apartments, being brought after the rest at the resort.

Be careful when buying a Far Eastern Trionix. This long-necked greenish turtle is quite aggressive. Her shell is covered with skin with dark spots. Distinctive features of the turtle are a small proboscis on the muzzle and three claws on each paw. Keep the individual in the aquatic environment, feed the fish.
