You can calculate the geometric and actual volume of the aquarium. Geometric volume is the amount of water that will fit in an empty aquarium. It is calculated by the formula a * b * c, where a is the length of the aquarium, b is the width, and c is the height. But in fact, in addition to water, in an operating aquarium, you will have soil, shells, perhaps a decorative sunken ship or an underwater castle, equipment necessary for the life of fish, algae and the inhabitants themselves.

In order to calculate the actual volume of the aquarium, it will be safer to use a measuring container or even a regular jar. Fill the soil and shells into the future dwelling, install the necessary appliances, set up decorations and start filling the aquarium with water using a container, not forgetting to count how many times you scooped up water. Once the aquarium is full, multiply the number of liters you can fit in the bowl by the number of times you have to fill it with water. This will give you the actual volume. Of course, in this case, it is more convenient to calculate the volume just before the fish are populated, although this is a good way to check the aquarium for leaks. The same method can be used for round aquariums, since it will not be possible to calculate their volume mathematically.

Remember that one liter is equal to one cubic decimeter. If you bought an aquarium in England or America, its capacity can be measured in pints or cubic inches. One pint will be equal to 0.57 liters. If you are dealing with an American pint, the value will be different - 0, 47. One cubic inch is 0, 016 liters.
