Budgerigars, like parrots of any other breed, are easy to train. However, in order to avoid problems and quickly achieve results, it is necessary to know some facts about the nature of parrots and how they should be trained.
It is necessary
- - Dictaphone;
- - feed.
Instructions
Step 1
You should start working with your parrot not directly with training, but with adapting the purchased bird to new conditions. She needs to get used to the house and to you. The parrot should not be afraid to sit on your arm and shoulder. He must recognize you, communicate with you. The most important thing in this matter is trust. Before you start training, you must accustom the bird to yourself.
Step 2
So that the parrot is not afraid to take food from your hands, start small. At first, push the pieces of food through the bars of the cage. Sooner or later, the parrot will grow bolder and take this piece. After that, you can start reaching out to him. When the parrot gets used to its hands, start letting it out of the cage. Over time, he should begin to fly to you at your call and sit on your arm or shoulder.
Step 3
To respond, the parrot must remember its name. It doesn't take much effort here. Just repeat his name as often as possible. Birds remember names best with hissing letters.
Step 4
The parrot must behave decently and not bite. To teach him good behavior, you must behave humanely yourself. In this case, this means not only respect for the bird. In no case should you do sudden movements in her presence, they are very afraid of this. You need to be especially careful in the first days after buying a parrot. If the parrot nevertheless pecked you, try not to jerk your hand too abruptly. Sometimes they just play. When weaning a bird from a bad habit, in no case raise your voice. Speak clearly, emphatically, and calmly. Of course, they do not understand the words, but they catch the intonation very clearly.
Step 5
If you want to teach your parrot to talk, keep in mind that mostly males do the talking. Start learning with the simplest: your name, the name of the parrot, individual words. Record something on the recorder and play it back for 40 minutes if you don't have time. Later it will be possible to teach the bird to whole expressions.
