Thai cats are often confused with Siamese cats, and indeed, in fact, they are two branches of the same breed. According to legend, color-point beauties with cream-colored fur, light belly and dark muzzle, paws and tail lived in the state of Siam and belonged to the royal family. And nowhere else except this kingdom were such cats found. Siamese monarchs took care of these cats as a most valuable relic.
However, in the 19th century, Siamese cats began to leave their native land from time to time, appeared in neighboring states. Around this time, the breed bifurcated. Some of the representatives of this breed were intensively crossed with representatives of other breeds, which led to some changes in their appearance and the appearance of new colors, while the other part remained in its original form. The breeders tried to keep intact all the characteristic features of the breed. It is these pristine clean cats that are proudly called Thai. They are also called apple-headed or traditional Siamese due to the characteristic shape of their head.
Appearance
Today's Thai cats are outwardly almost identical to the Siamese of the 18th-19th centuries. They are rather compact in size, muscular body, paws of medium length. The head is rounded, the ears are small, set apart. The eyes are blue, slightly slanted and have an almond or lemon shape.
Wool and color
This breed is characterized by color-point color in various variations. The limbs, tail and a kind of mask on the face are colored, while the rest of the body is much lighter or completely white. The limbs can be black, brown, gray, caramel, and so on, in addition, these colors may lie on the limbs in bright stripes (tabby color), rather than a uniform patch.
Character
Cats of the Thai breed are mobile, social, they tend to be strongly attached to their owner. Thais are inquisitive and fearless, and sometimes this fearlessness borders on recklessness, so you need an eye and an eye for them, especially if you decide to go for a walk with your pet. In addition, the representatives of this breed are unpretentious, their wool practically does not require maintenance and almost does not shed.
