Many people think that if a turtle lives in water, then it does not need to go out on land. This is a fundamentally wrong opinion. Water turtles need to rest outside the water, and for this, when keeping it in the aquarium, you need to place a small island on which the turtle can crawl out from time to time.
It is necessary
- Stones
- Snag
- Plexiglass
- Extruded polystyrene foam
Instructions
Step 1
The simplest solution for a turtle island is to pick up several stones that need to be well fixed against the wall or on top of each other so that part of the stone rises above the water. You need to make sure that the angle of inclination is small so that it is easy for your pet to climb up.
Step 2
You can also make your turtle land from driftwood. To do this, you need to pick up a fairly wide snag, or strengthen a special platform at the top from a plank (not plywood).
Step 3
Also islands can be made from plexiglass plate, foam and other synthetic lightweight materials. However, this method is only suitable if your turtles are small. Since large turtles are very strong, they can easily break fragile structures. The island can be decorated with Javanese moss.
Step 4
You can also cut out islands of extruded polystyrene foam, fill the surface with foam, and while it has not hardened, sprinkle it with fine primer for decoration. It is best to fix such an island with glue directly to the glass. Don't forget about a comfortable incline.
