When buying turtles, you need to remember that these crumbs can reach 30 centimeters in a year. In order not to spend money twice, it is better to immediately take care of a suitable aquarium for them (it is desirable that the volume of the aquarium is 100 liters or more). But, even if you bought a spacious aquarium, it will not immediately become suitable for your pets. First you need to work on it.
It is necessary
A glass aquarium, or an aquarium made of non-toxic plastic, a piece of glass or plastic for making a shore, large stones and shells, an incandescent lamp, an ultraviolet lamp, a heater
Instructions
Step 1
Your turtle needs a place to bask in the sun (in your option, under a lamp). To make such a bead, take a piece of glass or non-toxic plastic and place it under an incandescent lamp. The bank should be sloped to make it easier for the turtle to climb. The distance from the shore to the side of the aquarium should be at least 30 cm, otherwise your animal may escape. You can decorate such a coast with pebbles or snags.
Step 2
Substrate for turtles is not required, but it is often liked by the aquarists themselves, as it serves as a decorative function. In no case take fine soil, sand, pebbles - they cause intestinal obstruction in turtles. Also, plastic or glass stones will not work - your pets will bite through them. Place large rocks on the bottom, larger than a turtle's head, and shells. In addition to their aesthetic function, shells will saturate the water with calcium.
Step 3
Attach an incandescent lamp and an UV lamp to the tank for your turtles. The temperature under the incandescent lamp should be 29-31 degrees. Such lamps should be turned on for 10-12 hours every day.
Step 4
The final touch is the water heater. Spend some money on a good brand, as there have been times when cheap heaters whitewashed and the turtles died. So that the turtle is not interested in this device, it can be placed under a decorative island, castle, or simply fenced off with stones.
