Lemurs are an amazing species of animals that live mainly in Madagascar. These animals are very beautiful and are capable of capturing the imagination of lovers of unusual species of animals.
Lemurs belong to the class of mammals of the order of primates of the lemur family. Sometimes they are also called semi-monkeys, but unlike monkeys, they have peripheral vision. There are 65 known species of these animals. Basically, these are medium-sized animals, but there are individuals up to 1 meter long, and the smallest representative can be only 12 - 28 cm long.
The coat of lemurs is soft and dense, but short, often multi-colored. A feature of lemurs is their straight, long tail. There are daytime and nocturnal species of animals. Most nocturnal lemurs sleep in trees one at a time or in pairs with their tail wrapped around their heads. Small animals live alone, they are very careful, and larger ones live in groups and behave more daringly in the presence of humans.
The largest settlements of lemurs are found in Madagascar. Towards evening, in the forests, where animals mainly live, you can hear a loud, drawn-out cry. The lemurs have woken up and are ready to start their nocturnal lifestyle.
Basically, lemurs are herbivores, feed on the fruits of trees, flowers, leaves, but there are some species that feed on insects.
Lemurs are calm animals by nature, so some species can live at home. It should be noted that this is a great responsibility, since it is necessary to carry out a lot of preventive measures, as well as maintain immunity, so that the animal feels comfortable. Despite the difficulty of keeping lemurs in captivity, they are found in some zoos.
