Step 1
To make your parrot a talking and tame one, it is best to take a very young bird into the house. Choose the youngest chick in preference to an older pet. Adult parrots do not get used to people well, are difficult to train and have a bad temperament. Also, keep in mind that males are much more capable of mimicking human speech than females. And, of course, you need to start one cockatiel: a bird that lives in a pair with a relative will never speak.
Step 2
Find the right crate for your pet. It should be large enough so that the parrot can, sitting in the center of the perch, freely spread its wings without touching the rods. At the same time, a bird does not need a too large dwelling: in it it will not get used to people longer, because it can, if desired, keep at a rather respectful distance. Therefore, the learning process can be delayed.
Step 3
If possible, start in the morning or evening. It is even better to train your parrot both in the morning and in the evening. Think carefully about the words you want to teach the cockatiel. For the first time, just the name of the bird will do. When the parrot learns to pronounce it, you can move on to more complex phrases. By the way, the name should contain hissing sounds, the bird will remember them most easily (Gosha, Kesha, Yasha, etc.). If the parrot sits calmly and slowly closes and reopens his eyes, it means that he is listening to you attentively. Repeat the selected words and phrases many times, with the same intonation, preferably in a high voice. This is due to the fact that parrots are better at imitating high-pitched sounds.
