A dog that is not controlled by the owner is a threat not only to others, but even to itself. In the city, such a dog lies in wait for many dangers. These are the likelihood of injury or capture, an attack by feral relatives, rushing cars, and much more. Preventing deviations from the norm in a dog's behavior (for example, weaning him from running away from the owner) is always easier than fixing it. That is why her upbringing must begin from the very first day.
Instructions
Step 1
To stop your dog from running away, first of all eliminate the very possibility of escape. Take her outside only on a leash. Adjust the collar size. It should not come off over the head.
Step 2
At home, start learning the command "Come to me!" To do this, periodically call the dog by calling its name. When she pays attention to you, give the command "Come to me!" and show off the treat. There is no need to repeat the command. This can show the dog that it is not necessary to obey the first time. You can talk to her, for example, say: "Well, come to me, clever girl." If she came up to you after the command, praise her, reward her with a tasty morsel.
Step 3
Use a long leash when walking. While walking, encourage your dog to come up to you for affection and treats. Play hide and seek with your dog so that it has to look for you. So she will develop a fear of losing sight of the owner. She herself will already be afraid to run away from you. Practice the command "Come to me!" in different places: on the promenade, in the yard, in the field. The dog must understand that it is a pleasant experience to follow the command. Never hit or punish your dog when it comes up to you, even if it did not behave properly before. If, nevertheless, she needs to be punished, along with the discontent in her voice, make an unpleasant sound for her (for example, a rattle). You can also spray it with a stream of water - small and thin, just to evoke unpleasant emotions.
Step 4
By repeated repetition, bring the execution of the command to the level of reflex. The dog must obey the command in all conditions and under all circumstances. Practice other commands from the obedience course with your dog. This will keep you and your pet out of trouble!
