The seabed is fraught with many mysteries. A large number of various fish live in the depths of the sea and ocean, striking with their unusual, and sometimes scary or unpleasant appearance.
Unusual frog fish
This fish was described relatively recently - in 2009. Its full name is psychedelic frog fish. It has a huge head with wide-set eyes, directed forward (like in vertebrates, not like most fish). This arrangement of the eyes gives the fish a peculiar and unusual appearance. The length of this unusual fish does not exceed 15 cm. Zoologists have classified this creature as a representative of the anglerfish order, recognizing it as a "relative" of the monkfish.
The frog fish also moves in its own way. If you observe the way it moves, you can see the frog principle in it: the fish pushes off the bottom with the help of its pectoral fins, pushing water out of the gills to create jet thrust. In addition, the fish, when moving, oscillates from one side to the other: the fact is that its tail is bent to one side and makes it impossible to move in a straight line. It is curious that a frog fish can simply crawl along the seabed, fingering with its pectoral fins, as if with legs. Lives in Indonesia.
Unusual drop fish
This creature would not even turn a fish to call it! It has neither scales nor well-developed fins, but zoologists classify it as a fish. The appearance of this creature can be terrifying: it is something jelly-like with a human nose! The density of the body of a drop fish is much less than the density of water, because of this it has to constantly sway in the water under the influence of waves and currents.
Scientists who have studied the lifestyle of this unusual fish have found that it will not be possible to meet it on the surface of the water, since it is an inhabitant of the underwater depths. By the way, this is why nature has deprived the drop fish of some organs. For example, she does not have a swim bladder, since she makes good use of her unusual and gelatinous body.
A drop fish is peaceful and even benevolent. They are the only representatives of the genus of psychrolutes, "incubating" their offspring: the fish sits on the eggs until the fry appear. She protects her offspring until the fry begin to live independently. Therefore, despite their unusual appearance, these fish are very caring creatures. They live in Australia.
Unusual saber-toothed fish
We are talking about vampires-haracins living in the Amazon River. Fangs give them an unusual appearance, which in adults can reach 16 cm. It is believed that haracins are endowed with a special intuition that allows them to feel where the victim has unprotected or weak spots. Haracins kill their prey by thrusting their fangs into them. For this, this type of fish was tacitly nicknamed Count Dracula. In length, these fish can reach up to 1.5 meters, and weigh up to 25 kg!
