Hamsters often bring offspring, gestation duration is only 21 days, and with a small number of embryos, it can be slightly shorter. It is difficult to determine the presence of pregnancy in a hamster, because it does not manifest its characteristic signs until the last. But if you carefully observe the animal, you can still recognize the earliest addition to the family.
Instructions
Step 1
Aggressive behavior of the female is observed in the first days after the onset of pregnancy and continues almost until the very birth. If a previously calm hamster suddenly begins to bite, this may be a signal of pregnancy. Watch her, and you will understand with accuracy whether there will be babies or not. The mom-to-be is usually restless and fidgety.
Step 2
Pour more torn paper into the cage, and if the animal begins to pull it into the corner of the cage, making a semblance of a nest, then there will probably be an addition soon. Put all the other hamsters in another cage, they will interfere with the mother's preparation for childbirth, and they can simply eat the newborns, this often happens with hamsters.
Step 3
On day 10, the hamster begins to clearly round and behave even more restlessly. And if you take her in your hands and gently touch your belly with the pad of your finger, you can feel the babies in the womb of the expectant mother. If she does not mind, watch, sometimes you can notice the movement of the cubs through the thin fur on the abdomen.
Step 4
If the hamster has given birth, do not bother her, she does not need help, and even more so, do not take the newborns in your hands, they are still very weak. Very soon, fur will appear on them, and they will open their eyes.
