The term "aquarium economy" usually means a set of aquariums of various sizes and purposes, as well as the equipment necessary for them for lighting, heating, filtering water, etc. Fans of aquarium fish sometimes face the problem of inability to purchase an aquarium of the required size, but you can do it yourself.
It is necessary
- - glass (4-8 mm thick);
- - glass cutter;
- - adhesive sealant;
- - wiping cloth;
- - a liquid for degreasing, for example, alcohol;
- - sandpaper;
- - gloves
Instructions
Step 1
Determine how many tanks, and what sizes, you need. It depends on the number of species of fish that you are going to breed and on what part of the room you will use for the aquarium. For each type of fish, tanks are needed for keeping broodstock, spawning, keeping juveniles, feeding fry and feeding them.
Step 2
Make markings on the glass and start cutting. Cutting glass with gloves is safer. It is better to immediately process the cutting lines with sandpaper, then the glass can be taken with bare hands. Try making a small aquarium first. For the spawning box, cut out the following parts: bottom - 250x400 mm, front and back walls - two parts 250x390 mm each, side walls - two parts 250x250 mm each.
Step 3
Degrease the glass surface. Gently apply adhesive sealant and glue the aquarium parts together. The bottom of the aquarium on all sides should protrude beyond the perimeter of the walls.
Step 4
To get the aquarium right the first time, follow these rules. Apply the adhesive sealant evenly and in a good layer so that there is enough to bond. While the sealant has not yet set, iron the seams with your finger to smooth and distribute the adhesive. It is better if the sealant is a little more, it can always be wiped off. Do not dry the aquarium near heating appliances - it may burst. Let it dry at room temperature.
Step 5
By analogy with a spawning box, make a large aquarium. For him, it is better to take glass a little thicker. In addition, ribs are recommended in a large aquarium. To do this, you need to cut strips out of glass and glue them along the perimeter of the upper walls inside the aquarium. This design makes the glass container rigid. To calculate the width of the stiffeners, the glass thickness must be multiplied by seven. For example, if you use 6 mm glass to make an aquarium, then the stiffener should not be narrower than 42 mm.
Step 6
If you want to make a long, but not wide aquarium, you must use screeds. The screed is a rectangular piece of glass that is glued between the back and front walls in the center of the aquarium. One aquarium can be strengthened with two ties, in which case they will divide it into three equal parts.
Step 7
Set up ready-made aquariums. For this, bedside tables, whatnots, racks, etc. are suitable. Even if the surface on which you are going to place the aquarium is perfectly flat, it is worth placing a spacer under it. Foam plastic with a thickness of 20 mm is very good for this purpose, just cover it with a dark cloth - some species of fish “do not like” a white bottom.
Step 8
Install lighting, filtering and other necessary devices in aquariums. The complete set of aquariums depends on the purpose for which this or that container is intended.
